The Diocese of South Dakota has two camps available for use.
Camp Remington, located in Custer State Park, has rustic cabins
available for a minimum donation of $25.00/night/cabin. Each
cabin sleeps 4–6+. Basic furniture and utensils are
provided. July through Labor Day there are services at the Chapel
of the Transfiguration at 10:30 am. For reservations, contact

Thunderhead Episcopal Center
is the summer camp for the Diocese
of South Dakota. Located in the beautiful and sacred Black Hills,
the summer camp provides a place of relaxation and refreshment.
Campers enjoy hiking, crafts, sports, Bible study, and a variety of
worship services in the Episcopal tradition. Calvary Cathedral
provides the registration fee ($50.00) for all our children and young
people attending camp, and scholarships are available. Email camp

2008 Summer Schedule at Thunderhead Episcopal Center
Thunderhead Episcopal Center exists to provide an emotionally,
physically, and spiritually safe space in which to nurture a
relationship with Jesus Christ and Christ's people.
The goal of the summer camping program is to provide a sabbath
experience in a sacred space that nurtures faith, fosters intercultural
community, develops and deepens friendships, empowers future leaders,
and equips participants to live with Christian integrity in a safe and
joyful atmosphere of fantastic fun.

 For high school
July 7-10 Future Staff Camp - for those entering
10th, 11th, or 12th grade, or just graduated from high school. If
you would like to gain the skills necessary for any kind of leadership
- camp, small groups, youth work, etc. - as well as grow in your faith,
this is the camp for you.
June 24-July 1 High School Camp - (entering 9th-12th
grade) All the fun and Christian content of regular camp, with a few
extra treats such as polar bearing and a brunch. Come for a rest
from the challenges and responsibilities of life, and be renewed and
refreshed by the challenges presented at camp.
For those entering 5th-6th grade
June 12-15 Bring a friend or two for three days and
four nights of adventure in God's wonderful creation and with God's
amazing people. Discover friends, develop skills, delve into
faith.
for those entering 7th -8th Grade
July 28-August 2 All Girls' Camp - This camp fills up
fast, and registration is limited, so send in your registration right
away! Come enjoy camp without the distractions of boys.
Activities are focused on the interests and needs of young girls,
mentally, physically, and spiritually.
July 21-26 All Boys' Camp - Just for boys, this camp
is becoming very popular, so sign up early to be sure you have a
spot. Geared toward the things boys like to do and think about,
this camp also stretches the understanding of "guys in church."

For all agesMay 2-4 Work Weekend
Join us to prepare the facilities for the summer. All sizes and
types of jobs are ready and waiting for your help. Let us know
you are coming so we have enough delicious food for everyone!
May 23-26 Memorial Day Weekend Family Camp - Our only requirement to fit
the "definition" of family is that an adult accompanies children
(anyone under 18), with no more than three children per adult,
please. We have had grandparents with grandchildren, college
students with younger siblings, groups of adult sisters, parents and
their adult children, couples, singles, adult siblings, and aunts or
uncles with nieces or nephews. This camp provides some time to
explore the attractions of the Black Hills, as well as the spiritual
and physical refreshment of the camp program and facility. Camp
begins with supper on the 10th, and ends after lunch on the 13th.
You may come late or leave early if you cannot take all the time off
(but do let us know if you will). This is a great way to spend
time together and get to know our staff and facility. Rooms are
available in the lodge for participants with special physical
needs.
- Cost: $75.00 per person, children under five years old free; maximum $200.00 per household.
Day Camps

June 19-22 Niobrara Convocation - Program activities
on the theme will provide a focus for the children of the local area
and of those attending Convocation.
July 15-18 On the Sisseton Mission -
Specific location to be announced. Children entering second grade
through 15 years of age are welcome. Day camp runs 9 am–1 pm,
Tuesday through Friday, and culminates in the Sunday worship service.
For adults
July 11-13 Women's Retreat - Facilitated by the Rev. Judy Wiley, the weekend promises a variety of faith-building and stretching activities. Each
year, this retreat provides a wonderful refuge from the busyness of
women's lives.

August 15-17 Men's Retreat - Come explore your
spirituality and learn more about your life in Jesus' kingdom.
Geared toward quiet, reflection, and fellowship, this weekend helps men
strengthen and deepen the connection to God and the Church.
August 31–Sept. 2 Alumni Weekend
- All graduates are invited to come for a long weekend of renewal and
reconnection, as well as growth. Relive camp as you remember it
(still up for a game of "Capture the Flag"?!) with worship, discussion
of the day's lessons, activities, and many of the friends you
made. Come all weekend, or join us for a meal ($5.00) if time is
tight. Families welcome. Make your reservations early.
Individuals or Groups — The camp is available May through
October for individual and group retreats, meetings, and educational
sessions. Scheduling depends on availability of facilities and
staff. A cook is available most times. Come let us shower
you with our great hospitality—and let God surround you with beauty and
peacefulness.
