Calvary Cathedral Mission Statement:
In accordance with the richness and history of our tradition, Calvary Cathedral exists to love God and others and to serve in the spirit of Christ.

Please keep the Cathedral in your prayers as we proceed in this work:
Our Creator, guide and govern us as we work together in molding your Cathedral into a place of beautiful worship.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, let us follow You faithfully as we share the life You have given us.
Holy Spirit come, live in us that we may welcome all as the family of God here at Calvary Cathedral.
O God, show us the needs of your people and help us to carry out your will in a world where the need is great, resources are abundant, and only our imagination is limited.
Teach us your way, O Lord, and give us the wisdom to share all we know of You.
In all things, empower us to care for this world You have entrusted to us.
And bring to us the one you are preparing even now to lead us in all these excellent endeavors.
Through the love of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Search Process FAQs

1. When will Calvary Cathedral have a new Dean?

We will call a Dean as soon as we are able to work through the process.  The goal is to complete the process by the end of 2008.

2. How will the search for a new Dean happen?

After a series of events providing a parish-wide discernment, a Parish Profile will be created. Then a Search Committee will be formed.  After those items are completed, prospective candidates— including those whose names are provided by the national Church Deployment Office, the Diocese, our parishioners, and self-furnished—will be invited to participate in our search.  The Committee will interview those candidates who appear the most likely "match" to our profile.  When the "right fit" is found, the Search Committee recommendations will be accepted by the Vestry; upon concurrence, the Vestry will propose the candidate to the Bishop.  If accepted, the candidate will become our permanent Dean.  Check the Process Timeline and Milestones for more information as we work through the process.

3. Who is leading Calvary Cathedral until a new Dean is called?

The Bishop is Rector of the Cathedral and is the ecclesiastical authority.  With the need for Fr. Chuck Parthum's surgery and recovery process, the Vestry requested additional guidance from the Diocese.  The Rev. Canon Dr. Robert Wagner and David Hussey are assisting in the process and Canon Wagner provides leadership for the ongoing needs of the Cathedral.  Throughout the transition period, the membership of Calvary are also represented through our elected Officers and Vestry.  For 2008, these are:

  • Cannon Robert Wagner (Interim Dean)
  • Loyd Wagner, Senior Warden
  • Joe Tischler, Junior Warden
  • Tom Mark, Treasurer
  • Holly Huisken, Clerk
  • Bonnie Bunch
