The Foyer Group (dinner groups)

The Foyer Group was established to help church members become better acquainted with other members of the parish by means of fellowship and good food.  Singles or couples—all are welcome.

Participants take turns being the "host" for an evening and, as such, provide the main course and beverages for the meal.  Everyone else brings salad, vegetable, or dessert.  The host may ask for a specific type of dish or let the others choose for themselves.  The group meets once a month.

Ideally, groups are 8–12 people and at regular intervals the participants are "re-assigned" to increase the number of parishioners each participant gets to know well.  If your home is small the church is always available by reservation.  Anyone interested should contact the Reverend Arlene Pearsall at the church.

The Daughters of the King

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our vision as Daughters of the King is to know Jesus Christ, to make Him known to others, and to become reflections of God's love throughout the world.  The Daughters of the King is an Order for women with chapters in the Episcopal Church, Roman Catholic Church, Anglican Churches, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.

The Motto of the Order

For His Sake . . .
I am but one, but I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
What I can do, I ought to do.
What I ought to do, by the grace of God I will do.
Lord, what will you have me do?

The Women's Book Club

The Women's Book Club started in October of 2003.  We have about 20 women in the club who come when they can with an average attendace of 7-10 women each month.  This is a group of women who love to read, but also lead busy lives with work, family and other time commitments.

We do hope you are able to read the book ahead of time as it makes for a better discussion, but even if you don't finish the book, or even if you don't start the book, we want you to come anyway!

We try to select titles out in paprback or available through the library.  We select our books through our members suggestions.  We are a diverse group with varied interest and the titles we choose reflect that.

All women are invited to join the book club for coffee and conversation and you do not have to be a member of Calvary.  Please join in and invite your friends who love to read to come along.

Book titles and meeting dates are published in The Caller. Our 2011 meeting dates are July 28th, August 25th, September 22nd, October 27th and December 1st. You can also sign up for e-reminders.

Contact Jill Armin or the church office for further information.

Adult Lectionary Study Group

This group facilitated by Robin Rieper meets in the Diocesan
Conference Room at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings beginning on
September 12th.
In the study, the commentaries on the lectionary readings for the week are reviewed in an attempt to discern their purposes and meanings within a historical context.
You are invited to join the group each week or whenever you can make it.
