Children's and youth Sunday school programs are offered
each Sunday from August through May. Parents are asked to assist in their
child’s class once a month.
Starting
in August, the children will gather downstairs at 9:45 for a brief worship
service with music, the week’s Lessons and an activity. Parents are welcome to
participate! Following the gathering time, they will depart to Sunday School.
We offer
several different Sunday School programs:
Nursery, Preschool and
Kindergarten meet in the Nursery, across from the Elevator.
The children will be using the Episcopal Children’s Curriculum (ECC) Chalice program starting in August 2010.
We are always looking for volunteers to help introduce our children to their
faith
The
1st-3rd grade class is
lead by Patrice Roth. This age level also uses the Episcopal Children's
Curriculum (ECC). This year will also focus on the Chalice program.
The
4th-5th grade class uses
the Living the Good News Lectionary
Study Curriculum. This builds on the ECC and takes students deeper
into the readings for each Sunday. Under the leadership of Lynn Fjellanger and
helpers, this group will learn much about their faith and practice. This group
meets in the west Sunday school room.
The Middle School (6th, 7th and
8th grades) will meet in the Middle School Youth Room and
will use the Rite 13 curriculum
and delve into A Teen’s Guide to the
Episcopal Church.
The
High School students will meet in
the Youth Room and will be following the Journey to Adulthood curriculum. They will
also have an opportunity to serve an apprenticeship with various ministries
(from Altar Guild to Ushers) on Sunday mornings.
Sunday
School time will run from 10 to 10:30, with the children rejoining their
families in church for Holy Communion.
Throughout the year, we will have large group
gatherings to celebrate All Saints Day, the beginning of Advent, Epiphany, the
beginning of Lent, Easter and Pentecost. We also will be having a Blessing of
the Backpacks before the school year starts, a Christmas pageant in December and
an Easter egg hunt in the spring.
